I studied Business Science Marketing at UCT from 2002-2005. I was drawn to TFG,
due to its very strong presence in the South African retail market, as well as the
wide range of brands which it encompasses. Luckily for me, there was a Trainee position
in marketing available and I was able to use my education in an industry in which
I had a keen interest.
|
I started on The Foschini Graduate Programme in 2008, along with thirty others.
The first few weeks of the programme we spent together, learning about the business
and the different areas in it. I spent
a month working in different stores including
the brands that
I will be working on: Foschini, Donna-Claire, Fashion Express and
Luella.
|
|
My focus area in marketing was “Research and Database” across all four brands in
the Foschini division, so my first few weeks were spent getting to grips with the
details of the job and learning various tasks. I was lucky enough to be part of
a fantastic team of people who immediately made me feel welcome and who I really
enjoyed working with. After about 8 months, I was given more responsibility and
started to work on the marketing co-ordination for Luella - a brand, which I am
very passionate about and a product to which I can definitely relate.
|
|
By the end of my first year with the company, I had been promoted from a Trainee
to a designate marketing co-ordinator. I look forward to another year of growing
and learning...
